'Field recording', sometimes known as 'Phonography', is the technique of capturing an audible illustration of an environment.  To be recording 'in the field' is to be recording outside of the studio.  I often think of these recordings as 'sound photographs'.

I'm interested in capturing the serendipity of the everyday sound and sharing the results.

Where a recording is labelled 'binaural' please use your headphones to enjoy the binaural effect!

Musical:- Circuit-bending workshop.

Saturday, as is regular for me these days, saw me pop into the Exeter Phoenix for a couple of weekend pints. Unbeknownst to me, my friend Alex was not available to join me, as he'd gone to the Knowledge Of Bugs Circuit Bending workshop in the Phoenix media centre. I was however, kindly invited to pop my head in to check out what was going on (on the basis that I brought with me another pint of cider). It was pretty cool, and I really regretted not having signed up to properly take part in the workshop. The upside was that Tom Bugs was happy to demo some stuff for me to record!

You'll hear four voices during this recording: my own dis-jointed murmur, Alex's cider-fueled enthusiasm, Tom Bugs himself, and lastly Dave Whitelock (festival organiser) popping in to see what was going on. Try and spot Alex's unfortunate faux-pas, and forgive my verbal intrusions (Alex and I had enjoyed a few pints by this stage!)
